My “betters”…. I may only be a simple hobbit gardener, sir, but Mr Gimli for one is a fine and as loyal a friend as anyone could ever want. And I reckon I know a thing or two about backwards folk. It’s not how someone treats their equals that shows as what they are, but how they treat their “inferiors”.
I would bet you know a thing or two about backwards folk…being one yourself. Which is better, a hobbit or an elf? A king or a gardener? Those are not such a difficult questions to answer. And maybe the dwarf is a fine friend, but would you want him marrying your child?!
